The categories used in this site have been determined by the faces within the BetterThyself Wellness Pyramid above.

Concept:  http://timeforchange.org/human_development uses the pyramid as a symbol of human development in a matter that is incredibly insightful. The structure of a pyramid also serves as a symbol for strength and stability. Pyramids throughout the world still stand as among the oldest of all man-made structures.

Five Fundamental dimensions of wellness are represented here as the faces of the pyramid with the base being spiritual health. We’re not focused on religious spirituality as much as the matters of the human spirit or soul.
There facing upfront is your classic “mind, body, and soul.”
Running parallel to mental health is emotional health because they run so hand in hand. The emotions may root in the mind but why is that sometimes it’s so hard to control them?
Social health may appear to be directly affected by all the other aspects…but when you have powerful friendships that represent incredible connection or even greater love…was it all started because one or more of the other aspects?
The pyramid served as a perfect symbol to the interdependence of all the dimensions: how none of the dimensions can really exist in of themselves.

There appears to be a shift in the popular aspects/dimensions of wellness; the popular decision is that there are seven. The two that are not represented here are Occupational and Environmental. Although they are important, these five (represented as faces of the pyramid) are more fundamental (if for any other reason, for simplicity of geometry to visually represent!)
It is extremely important to have a fulfilling way to make a living…but is it UNHEALTHY for someone to work a job that is less than that in order to support a family? In so doing, these people in many ways provide strengthening to one or more of these five fundamental aspects of wellness.
